Championship Regulations

1.      Under the auspices of the Asian Draughts Confederation (ADC), Mongolian Draughts Federation (MDF), Government of Mongolia, National Olympic committee and World draughts Federation (FMJD) we organize the fifth Asian draughts Championship (men) and the first Asian draughts Championship (women). The championship is also the qualification tournament for two Asian participants for the world championship 2011.

2.      The tournament will take place in Olympic House, Khan – Uul District, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia from 20th October to 24th of October 2010. Arrival day is 19st of October, opening – on 20th of October at 3.30 p.m. closing – on 24th of October 2.00 p.m afternoon, departure day is 25th of October 2010.  

3.      There are following separate tournaments in the context of the Asian draughts  Championship will be played:

1.      Seniors – Men – 16 participants.

2.      Seniors – Woman – 16 participants.

3.      Seniors – Men – blitz tournament.

4.      Seniors – Woman – blitz tournament.

4.      Only the members of the national federations affiliated to the FMJD can participate. The players must have the citizenship of the Federation they represent or be members of this federation according to FMJD rules. ADC has the right to invite some players from new countries (never been members of FMJD).

5.      There are 3 places for every national federation in each tournament. The following additional places may be given:

1.      1 additional place in each tournament may be given for the organizing federation;

2.      1 additional place in each tournament may be given for the sponsors (independently of national federation membership of participant);

3.      1 additional place may be given for organizing federation (or for other federation at the suggestion of organizing federation) in case of odd number of participants in some tournaments.

6.      Applications (only from national federations!) should be sent by e-mail to ADC before September 14th and contain the list of players in order of tournaments with full name, surname, date of birth, also the name of the official representative of national federation on the Championship. The 1st players in each tournament have to be marked in this list. Organizing federation also send application to ADC, marked separately basic and additional players. In case of any problems the national federation should contact ADC directly.

7.      Before the beginning of the Championship (at October 19th, evening) a preliminary meeting will be held by the Chief Referee who will expound the present regulations to players, directors and journalists.

8.      Depending on the Chief Referee decision round robin tournament will be played. In case of unequal number of participants in some tournaments other tournaments’ systems can be used according the Chief Referee decision in consultation with ADC official representative. Chief Referee have the right to determine, that players from the same national federation have not to play between each other in a few last rounds depending on tournaments system and number of participants.

9.      Time control 80’ + 30 seconds per move (Fisher system). The players will be divided in two groups with approximately the same strength. Players of the same country will be in equally divided by the most possible option by the number of players. Both group winners shall be qualified for the world championship 2011 in the Netherlands. The winners of the groups play also for the title of the Asian draughts champions 2010. The Asian draughts champions shall receive the title of international grandmaster (GMI), according to the last rules of FMJD. In both groups (tournaments) other time control may be used according the Chief Referee decision in consultation with ADC official representative.

10.  Final places determine according FMJD rules applying to corresponding tournaments system. Only Barrages should be at first played in each group when opponents have the same points and when this give no result then the ordinary FMJD rules shall be applied. (barrage time control 15 minutes for each player, no Fischer system). If this bring no winner then the regulation shall be: a) largest number of victories. b): the result between the players. c): the best result obtained in the order of classification.

11.  For the final classification places the following qualified players in the groups shall play against each other in the final day of the competition. Both number one, both number two and so on. 

12.  In case of no immediately decision for the final classification of the Asian draughts championship in a tie-break game of 15 minutes (for both opponents) Lehman – Georgiev regulations shall be used till the winner is conclude.

13.  Only in case of all criteria will be an equal, barrage should be played according Lehman – Georgiev regulation (15 minutes for each player). The main referee shall decide all other questions in cooperation with the board of ADC.

14.  Commission of appeal. Three members: Mr. Bat–Erdene (Mongolia) , Mr. Usenov (Kazakhstan) and Mr. Gangsuhe (China).

15.  About referees: Main referee Mr. Harm Wiersma (The Netherlands), Mr. Chooi Weng Sheng (Malaysia) and assistant referees:  Mr. Baasandavaa Ch. (Mongolia), Mr. Enkh – Erdene E. (Mongolia), Mr. Kashchuluun Ts. (Mongolia)

16.  In other cases FMJD – rules decide in cooperation with ADC and referees.

17.  During opening ceremony shall be mentioned more details.

18. In each respect with following the rules of the international competition of draughts the members of the organizing committee and referees hope for a nice and sportive competition.
